Here’s Why You Should Never Eat More Avocados in a Single Day?

avocado benefits

The avocado has many health benefits, but did you know that it’s also potentially harmful? It’s true! In fact, recent research indicates that over-consumption of avocados can result in unpleasant side effects such as cold sweats, nausea, and even stomach cramps! Read on to learn more about the side effects of avocados and what to do if you have one or more of these symptoms after eating too many avocados in a single day.

Side Effects of Avocado:

This is probably an unlikely case, but since avocados are a fruit and contain enzymes similar to those found in bananas and kiwis, they can trigger allergies in people who are allergic to these fruits. If you suspect you may be allergic to avocados, avoid them until you speak with your doctor. It’s also important to note that since avocado is technically a berry, it should not be given to infants before six months of age because it can cause irritation.

Cholesterol Problems:

While many don’t consider avocados high-fat foods, they are in fact very rich with fats that can cause heart diseases. Eating too much avocado will significantly increase your cholesterol level. A study found out that people who regularly eat avocado have higher level of LDL or bad cholesterol and lower levels of HDL or good cholesterol. This can also lead to clogged arteries because of triglycerides – it is known as the fat from fruit. It was also revealed that cholesterol from avocado cannot dissolve easily due to their different structure. The buildup of triglycerides in arteries increases the risk for plaque formation which could lead to blood clotting and eventually leading to stroke or heart attack. It would be wise not to include avocados in your everyday diet since it contains more saturated fat than other fatty fruits like walnuts and almonds but without its same benefits for health improvement.

Toxicity Problems:

Some people believe that eating too many avocados can be toxic, but that’s not true. According to OHS, no cases of avocado toxicity have ever been reported. However, if you eat an avocado seed, it could create an upset stomach because of its pit. Once you remove all of the seeds from your fruit and consume only what’s left over (the flesh), there will be no negative side effects whatsoever . . . unless you’re allergic to avocados or are already on medication for your heart—but I digress.

Pesticides From Mexico:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently seized an illegal shipment of 23,000 pounds of Mexican pesticide-treated avocados. The fruit was destroyed because certain pesticides are not approved for use on produce intended for human consumption. Pesticides have been linked to cancer, and because 80 percent of all avocados sold in U.S.

Is the Nutrition Worth the Risk?

Many people overlook avocados’ nutrition, but it’s hard to deny their health benefits. The issue with avocados is their side effects. Though most studies have been inconclusive, recent evidence suggests eating too many avocados can be harmful to your health. A recent study published by Harvard University found that those who eat five or more avocados per week are twice as likely to develop an avocado allergy than those who eat only one per month.

The Aftermath of Excessive Consumption

In most cases, eating too many avocados will not have serious adverse side effects, but it can cause excess gas and bloating. Make sure to only eat one avocado per day for maximum health benefits. If you’re still not convinced, feel free to do your own research about potential side effects of avocados; eating them daily will likely not result in anything serious unless you consume very high levels of specific nutrients that aren’t essential to healthy living.
